About Community based humanitarian and development organization (CBHDO):

Community Based Humanitarian & Development Organization (CBHDO) is an Afghan non-governmental organization established in 2020, committed to supporting vulnerable and marginalized communities across Afghanistan. CBHDO delivers programs in Child Protection, Education, WASH, Health, Emergency Response, Nutrition, and Livelihoods.

CBHDO is partnering with Save the Children International (SCI) to implement the project “Child Protection Assistance for Vulnerable Populations Affected by the Earthquake in Eastern Region.” This project aims to provide lifesaving child protection services, psychosocial support, WASH facilities, and education support for earthquake-affected children and caregivers in Kunar Province.

Job Descriptions:

TLS Facilitators/Teachers will support the teaching, psychosocial support, and daily operation of Temporary Learning Spaces according to SCI and CBHDO education standards.

1. Teaching & Learning Support

  • Deliver daily teaching sessions aligned with emergency education principles and CBHDO/SCI guidelines.
  • Support children to re-engage in learning, literacy, numeracy, and age-appropriate basic education.
  • Use recreational and teaching materials distributed to 1,000 children to support learning and well-being.
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom environment for girls and children with disabilities.

2. TLS Operation & Classroom Management

  • Ensure safe, organized, and child-friendly learning environments across 15 TLS.
  • Register student attendance daily and maintain updated learning records.
  • Set up classroom materials, seating, learning aids, and recreational kits.

3. Psychosocial Support (PSS)

  • Apply basic Psychological First Aid (PFA) techniques when needed.
  • Support children dealing with stress, trauma, or social challenges through structured group activities.
  • Identify children in distress and refer them to the Child Protection Officer or SCI MHPSS team.

4. Awareness & Messaging

  • Deliver or support awareness sessions on:
    • Hygiene promotion
    • Child protection
    • Safety and well-being
    • Inclusive education
  • Work closely with CFS facilitators, community mobilizers, and WASH staff.

5. Safety & Child Protection

  • Ensure classroom and TLS safety, reporting any hazards immediately.
  • Maintain a secure and protective environment for all children.
  • Follow SCI and CBHDO safeguarding and PSEA guidelines strictly.
  • Report any safeguarding or child protection concerns immediately.

6. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain educational attendance sheets and activity reports.
  • Submit weekly and monthly updates to CBHDO’s Project Officer.
  • Support MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) teams in data collection and feedback mechanisms.

Job Requirements:

            Education

  • Minimum: High school graduate (required).
  • Preferred: Diploma or degree in Education, Teaching, Psychology, Social Sciences, or Early Childhood Development.

Experience

  • At least 1–2 years of teaching or facilitation experience in schools, education centers, or NGO programs.
  • Experience working with children in emergency or community-based programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with child-centered teaching methods and psychosocial support is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong teaching and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage classrooms with children of different ages.
  • Knowledge of positive discipline, inclusive education, and safeguarding.
  • Ability to work in challenging field environments.
  • Fluency in Pashto required; Dari is an advantage.
  • Strong cultural understanding and respect for community norms.
