Founded in 1990, Partners in Revitalization and Building (PRB) is a national non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization in Afghanistan. Position Summary

PRB is currently implementing a livestock-focused project in Jawzjan province, aimed at improving animal health services, feed accessibility, stable infrastructure, trainings, and market linkages for livestock products.

The M&E Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the effective monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) functions for the livestock project in Jawzjan province. The incumbent will assist in the systematic collection and analysis of field data using tools such as Kobo Toolbox and CommCare, conduct regular field monitoring visits, and contribute to ensuring compliance with project objectives and quality standards. The M&E Assistant will also help capture lessons learned and support feedback mechanisms to improve project accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the MEAL Officer in designing and updating M&E tools aligned with the project logframe and Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT).
• Conduct frequent field visits to monitor livestock-related interventions including training sessions, animal feed distributions, veterinary clinics, and stable rehabilitation works.
• Collect and verify both qualitative and quantitative data from beneficiaries and field staff using Kobo Toolbox and CommCare.
• Assist in planning and executing baseline, endline, and Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) surveys as well as producing monitoring repots.
• Ensure adherence to targeting criteria during beneficiary selection and implementation of activities.
• Track progress on training attendance, animal health services delivered, and utilization of distributed inputs.
• Contribute to documentation of success stories, challenges, and lessons learned from the field.
• Support community feedback mechanisms and follow-up on issues raised by beneficiaries.
• Maintain ethical data collection practices and ensure culturally appropriate interactions with communities.

Candidates will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Economics, BBA, Rural Development, or a related field.

Work Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant M&E experience, preferably within livestock, agriculture, or rural development projects with National or International NGOs.
• Experience with digital data collection tools (e.g. Kobo Toolbox and CommCare) is mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of M&E principles, logframe approach, and result-based management.
• Practical knowledge of data collection, entry, and data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with demonstrated field coordination and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to remote project locations within Jawzjan province
• Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an asset.
