job summary: 

The cook & cleaner is responsible for preparing meals for expats and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and guest premises. This role ensures that expat staff are provided with clean surroundings and quality meals in a timely manner and with respect of hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Cooking Duties:

• Prepare meals (breakfast/lunch/tea) as per the daily/weekly menu or as instructed by the expat.
• Ensure hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation areas.
• Maintain an inventory of kitchen supplies and request replenishments when needed.
• Ensure proper storage of food items and minimize waste.
• Wash and clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment after use.
• Ensure all the tea/coffee stations are equipped with adequate boiled water, coffee, milk and sugar on a daily basis.
• Purchase daily and weekly food material

Cleaning Duties:

• Washing and ironing clothes on a regular basis
• Clean and sanitize rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas daily.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly.
• Dispose of trash in a hygienic and timely manner.
• Refill hygiene supplies (soap, tissue, sanitizer, etc.) as required.
• Assist in setting up rooms for meetings, if required.

Any other tasks assigned by line manager

• At least read and write in local language
• Basic knowledge of English- ability to communicate with expat on daily
• Proven experience as a cook & cleaner for at least 4-5 years with INGO
• Experience in cooking Afghani, Aisa and western foods
• Knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practice and punctuality in meal service
• Experience handling dietary restrictions
• Active listening & feedback incorporation and good Team player 
• Active listening & feedback incorporation
• Understanding of using automatic washing machine
• Physically fit and able to carry out cleaning duties effectively.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and a respectful attitude.
• Cultural sensitivity, patience & adaptability and flexibility
