RAADA (Rehabilitation Association and Agriculture Development for Afghanistan) is an Afghan NGO dedicated to improving the lives of rural communities through sustainable agriculture, food security, and rehabilitation initiatives. With decades of experience working in the western region of Afghanistan, RAADA has been instrumental in empowering farmers, rebuilding livelihoods, and providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations across Afghanistan. RAADA’s expertise in agriculture, livestock, and community development has made it one of the leading NGOs in addressing the challenges faced by rural communities, particularly in the western region of Afghanistan. Vento di Terra (VDT) is an Italian NGO renowned for its commitment to human rights, social justice, and sustainable development. In Afghanistan, Vento di Terra has focused on building resilient communities through agriculture, livestock, and disaster risk management. Together, RAADA and Vento di Terra have joined forces to implement the Hari Rud: The Flowing River project, funded by AICS. This collaborative initiative aims to support vulnerable families in five districts of Herat Province by enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agriculture and livestock practices, and strengthening community resilience to natural disasters. Through this project, the two organizations bring complementary expertise to create lasting change for the people of Herat.

Job Descriptions:

  • The community mobilizer is responsible for organizing communities, motivating the target beneficiaries in the community, and facilitating the implementation process for the project in districts of Herat province.
  • Beneficiary targeting and selection.
  • Implement community mobilization-related activities to achieve project objectives.
  • Facilitate training sessions, field meetings, and gatherings to ensure that goals are reached.
  • Ensure that the project community mobilization strategy/ indicators/ activities are successfully implemented.
  • Facilitate undertaking baseline and needs assessment surveys for different program sectors in collaboration with the committee of target villages.
  • Facilitate all internal and external monitoring and evaluation processes required inputs in the target communities.
  • Work with the people to ensure that the project is responding to identified needs and has the full participation of the community.
  • To act as the accurate and reliable information source for all program sectors in terms of village directions, community profile, the background of the target villages, social and cultural practices, people's beliefs and customs, and so on.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly activity plans.
  • Selection of the project beneficiary clearly and transparently with the help of the project and program team.
  • Develop good networking with communities in the working environment.
  • Assist technical staff in social issues and solving community problems arising during project implementation.
  • Weekly reporting on community mobilization progress updates and techniques.
  • Actively participate in implementing workshops, coordination meetings, and training.
  • Support the management team in devising the technical and operational community mobilization activities.
  • Provide documents/ data/ reports upon request of the management team.
  • Provide input to the weekly/monthly schedule of community mobilization related activities.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with relevant stakeholders, as required.
  • Other duties assigned by the superiors, depending on available time capacity.

Job Requirements:

  • A university degree in agriculture is preferred
  • Fluent in local languages (Dari and Pashto)
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the same position in a national or international NGO
  • Excellent understanding of local context, needs, and challenges of the local communities and able to travel to the mentioned districts of the project
  • Effective member of the team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with the team, and promotes high standards
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in local languages
  • Successfully manages conflicting debates in the community
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and gatherings to reach its required outputs
  • Able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
