Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Descriptions:

  • Repair and maintenance of offices & guesthouse appliances, electricity, generators, and troubleshooting of the electricity problems and look after the generators and solar system for all building.
  • Repair/maintenance of electrical faults in generators, alternators pumps, electric motors and low voltages switchboards around the offices and other buildings and all electrical devices at NPO level.
  • To keep updated and maintained logbooks of generators and record KM/Hrs i.e. start and end entries on daily basis.
  • To keep record of the fuel consumption and repair/maintenance of the generators in their logbooks timely on daily basis.
  • To keep maintain generators operation record of service, oil and lubricant including repair/maintenance expenses in the relevant logbooks each invoice separately and to update the record on daily basis.
  • To maintain schedule for generators operations in detail in writing for start & off times for daily working hours and weekend to avoid mismanagement of the running cost.
  • Having familiarity with the solar technology and system of installation and fixing troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and maintain yearly service, maintenance and repair plan for generators, solar system, and other electrical & electronic devices of NPO offices and do proper follow up of the plan on daily, weekly, and monthly basis and share status update accordingly.
  • Prepare & raise requests for generators parts, oil, lubricants, service, as per plan on monthly & quarterly basis and record all expenses in the generators’ relevant logbooks, considering policy.
  • To be able and having enough knowledge to install heavy duty generator sets, whenever needed.
  • To keep generators, solar system, and other electrical and electronic devices in good working, and to make sure that all theses devices are protected from fire, damages, and other unforeseen incidents, and to ensure that valid fire extinguishers are installed around for emergency cases.
  • To be responsible for all electrical wiring system of the offices, and to repair the wiring system, as required, when needed.
  •  To be responsible to keep balance of the main power of the electricity, also to keep maintain change over of the offices to avoid damages to the office equipment.
  • To carry on maintenance of plumbing work, installation of locks, broken chairs, table and small devices and parts of the offices.
  • To carry on service, maintenance, repair, and installation of offices A/Cs and to carry its cablings.
  • To check and fixing all lighting system indoor and outdoor and to change offices fused bulbs and lights on daily basis, to keep the record in the relevant stock book.
  • Turn on/off all generators, per the plan and record/update the logbooks of generators and report the same to the line supervisor.
  • To keep the tank full of the generators around the clock and to keep the record in both expenses’ logbooks and stock in/out book, when refuelling is needed, and report the same on timely manner to the supervisor, and to raise request for the fuel need, the expenditure report is going to be attached with the request.
  • To be responsible for running electricity and power of all the offices and guest houses both day and night.
  • To be responsible to maintain expenses report and submit the same to the line supervisor, per the norm and standard on monthly basis.
  • To be responsible to keep record of the fuel stock in the fuel issue/receive logbook accurately for both generators and vehicles and report the same on monthly basis.
  • To be responsible to check electrical and electronics items, when newly purchased and delivered to office stock for its quality and working status.
  • To be high alert always to be ready to ask on call basis in case of urgencies or depending on workload and for trouble shooting the office.
  • Any other duties assigned by his supervisor, admin & logistics officer, or seniors of the department.
     

Job Requirements:

Education: Diploma/BSc or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering/repair & maintenance management.

Work Experience: 5 years
