Job Descriptions:

Job Summary: The National Capacity Building Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing capacity-building initiatives to enhance the skills and capabilities of individuals, organizations, and institutions within Afghanistan. This role is pivotal in ensuring sustainable development and self- by fostering local expertise and competencies. The Coordinator will work closely with local and community bodies or groups to identify needs, design training programs, and monitor their effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

100% of time

  1. Needs Assessment and Analysis
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify capacity-building needs at national, regional, and local levels.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine gaps in skills, knowledge, and resources.
  1. Program Development and Planning
    • Design and develop tailored capacity-building programs and training modules based on the identified needs.
    • Establish short-term and long-term capacity-building strategies aligned with national development goals.
  1. Implementation and Coordination
    • Coordinate with provincial and district agencies, and community groups, to implement capacity-building initiatives.
    • Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, seminars, and other educational activities.
    • Ensure the logistical arrangements for training programs are in place.
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of capacity-building activities.
    • Collect data, analyze outcomes, and provide regular reports to stakeholders on progress and impact.
    • Adjust programs based on feedback and evaluation findings to improve effectiveness.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, donor agencies, and partner organizations.
    • Advocate for capacity-building needs and secure funding and resources for programs.
  1. Resource Management
    • Manage budgets and resources allocated for capacity-building initiatives.
    • Ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial and operational policies.
  1. Communication and Reporting
    • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and communication materials for various audiences.
    • Share best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

 

Job Requirements:

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Development, Education, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience (Number of Years and field of expertise): 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in capacity building, training, or development programs, preferably in a conflict or post-conflict setting.

Technical Skills (Examples: languages, planning, word processing, advance written and verbal communication, presentation etc)

    • Strong project management skills with experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
    • Proficiency in English and local languages (Dari, Pashto) is highly desirable.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
    • Understanding of the socio-political context of Afghanistan.
    • Familiarity with international development frameworks and best practices in capacity building.
