Job Descriptions:

The Geophysicist Section Head for Seismic Data Processing is responsible for leading and managing the seismic data processing team at the oilfield. This role involves overseeing the processing and interpretation of seismic data, ensuring data quality, and providing technical expertise to support exploration and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead the seismic data processing team, including geophysicists, data analysts, and support staff, ensuring effective coordination and high performance.
  • Seismic Data Processing:
  • Oversee the processing and quality control of seismic data, including pre-stack and post-stack processing, inversion, and migration, to generate accurate subsurface images and attributes.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Provide technical guidance on seismic data processing techniques, algorithms, and software, ensuring the application of best practices and industry standards.
  • Project Management:
  • Develop and manage project plans for seismic data processing, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, to meet exploration and development objectives.
  • Data Interpretation:
  • Collaborate with geological and exploration teams to interpret processed seismic data, integrating it with other geological and geophysical information to identify potential reserves and support decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of seismic data processing and interpretation, implementing quality control measures and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
  • Reporting:
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on seismic data processing results, findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and innovations in seismic data processing, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance processing efficiency and data quality.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure that all seismic data processing activities comply with health, safety, environmental regulations, and industry standards.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or above in Geophysics or equivalent, at least four years of study in Geophysics professional colleges or universities.
  2. More than 15 years of experience in petroleum exploration activities.
  3. More than 10 years of experience as a geophysicist in a world-renowned oil company or geophysical service company, rich in international working experience on petroleum exploration.
  4. Conducting/managing more than 10 2D/3D seismic data processing projects.
  5. Having relevant training certificates or recommendation letters from well-known geophysical service company or professional institutions
  6. Proficient in the use of professional software, such as GeoEast, CGG, Omega, GeoDepth and etc.
  7. Working Language: English
  • Technical Skills:
  • Extensive experience with seismic data processing software (e.g., SEGY, Petrel, Kingdom) and a strong understanding of processing techniques, including migration, inversion, and attribute analysis.
  • Project Management:
  • Proven track record in managing seismic data processing projects, including budget and schedule management.
  • Leadership:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, manage resources effectively, and foster a collaborative work environment.
