Solidarity for Afghan Families (SAF) was established on October 2005 as a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization with an independent legal identity. Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establish and maintain contact with various actors (local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, security forces, etc...).
2. Work with program teams at field level to build network and acceptance in local communities where SAF operates.
3. Develop ongoing relationships with community leaders and other power brokers within the SAF operational areas.
4. Work to ensure that SAF, its mission, and work within the SAF operational areas are known and accepted.
5. Work to encourage stakeholders to work with the SAF in ensuring that staff and programs are safe, secured and allowed to continue humanitarian activities.
6. Organize and produce risk analyses in a participatory and regular manner as needed.
7. Participate in the development of Security Management Plans (SMP) including appropriate procedures and contingency plans.
8. Ensure that all documents are up to date and operational.
9. Evaluate and maintain contingency plans adapted to the local context, in operation area, for critical incident management, evacuation, hibernation and travel.
10. Closely monitor developing situations, Identify, and report all the security information, updates, and events, especially those could have an impact on SAF operations.
11. Work closely with all staff to ensure that safety and security incidents are reported in accordance with SAF standards.
12. Provide and share daily security report (DSR), required to comply with standard format and preparation of DSR, and provide weekly security updates.
13. Monitor open sources to collect, compile and report information including incidents and trends pertinent to humanitarian access in area of responsibility.
14. Work closely with SAF field management teams to ensure all incidents are followed up with an official written report.
15. Assist to monitor the operating environment, identify new threats, assess SAF vulnerabilities, and recommend possible responses.
16. Contribute to local-level conflict sensitivity analysis and macro- level analysis of trends
17. Provide an on-arrival security briefing to all the visitors and new staff
18. Identified staff training needs.
19. Provide ongoing training for drivers and guards, as well as for other staff as necessary.
20. Ensure the monitoring and replacement of safety equipment in SAF buildings (fire extinguishers, etc.).
21. Ensure the renewal of emergency stocks in SAF offices and guest houses, assess the physical working environment of offices and guesthouses are not vulnerable.
22. Ensure that each SAF office and guest house has an evacuation plan in case of fire
23. Conduct regular security & safety assessments of offices, warehouse to identify any vulnerabilities and give appropriate recommendations.
24. Ensure having security guards in all SAF facilities with supervision and planning.
25. Properly manage compound safety and security.
26. Compile and submit daily security reporting that track incidents and trends within the SAF’s area of operation.

Key Selection Criteria and Job’s Requirements:

1. At least two years’ experience working in humanitarian safety and security (at any level with technical responsibilities).
2. Must have knowledge of incident reporting protocols and experience in report writing.
3. Excellent language skill of English, Dari and Pashto.
4. Very good computer skills, MS- Office Package (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point)
