Acted Afghanistan:

Acted is working in 20 provinces in Afghanistan around the country. These provinces are affected by natural and man-made disasters. Acted provides relief and emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by displacements, conflicts, or natural disasters, in the fields of agriculture, shelter, wash, and food security.

The Senior IT Officer is responsible for setting up, configuring and maintaining IT  and Communication networks and systems in Acted Baghlan base.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The Senior IT Officer is responsible for setting up, configuring and maintaining IT  and Communication networks and systems in Acted Baghlan base.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • keep computer systems running smoothly and ensure users get the maximum benefit from them
  • Train new Acted colleagues on how to use network and other computer Peripherals
  • Provide IT support to local and remote Acted bases by remote and in person visits to the bases
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Manage and handle CUG Communication affairs with provider.
  • Replace parts as and when required.
  • Prepare and maintain proper documentation of network and system configuration of Acted all bases
  • Assist and support the roll-out of new applications
  • Setup and configure Microsoft 365 Applications on client computers.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly backups of data and applications following standard backup procedures.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, printers, scanners, access points, and other network and computer peripherals etc.
  • Troubleshoot system, network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Install and configure antivirus software and make sure that all computers are virus free.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a related role, preferably in a humanitarian or development organization.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining computer systems and networks.
  • Experience in setting up and configuring Microsoft 365 applications and other relevant software.
  • Strong knowledge of network and system configuration, including documentation practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues effectively.
  • Experience in performing backups and ensuring data security.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN operations and troubleshooting.

 Training and Support:

  • Proven ability to train colleagues on network usage and computer peripherals.
  • Experience in providing IT support to local and remote offices through both remote and in-person visits.

 Communication and Documentation:

  • Excellent communication skills to manage CUG Communication affairs with providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of network and system configurations.

Problem-Solving and Adaptability:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve IT issues promptly.
  • Flexibility to handle various tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and support the rollout of new applications effectively.

 Additional Skills:

  • Experience in installing and configuring antivirus software to ensure system security.
  • Ability to install and configure computer hardware, printers, scanners, access points, and other network peripherals.
