VDO is an independent, non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization established in January 07, 2015. The organization is composed with a strong and committed team to respond to the needs of Afghanistan. VDO’s special concentration on project implementation is impact- centered approach and VDO ‘s team is committed to work for the welfare and progress of society and the vulnerable people. VDO ‘s efforts focus on changing mentalities and attitudes about women’s participation and contribution in the society. Not only, it also focuses on economic development, advocacy, research and girl’s education. 

Job Descriptions:

  • Develop comprehensive event plans, including timelines, budgets, and logistics, ensuring all aspects of events are well-organized and executed efficiently.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including marketing, communications, and program staff, to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and branding.
  • Select and negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and venues, ensuring quality services and cost-effectiveness.
  • Secure necessary permits, licenses, and insurance for events.
  • Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of events, ensuring all elements are implemented according to plan.
  • Manage on-site event logistics, including registration, attendee flow, vendor coordination, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations during events.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and cost control measures.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create promotional materials, press releases, and event programs.
  • Manage event-related social media accounts and online presence.
  • Implement lessons learned and best practices in future event planning and execution.
  • Lead and mentor a team of event staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure staff and volunteers are well-trained and equipped to perform their roles effectively.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning and management, preferably within the NGO sector or similar organizations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale events from conception to completion.
  • Experience in budget management, vendor negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.

Commitment and Dedication:

  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to organizational policies
  • Willingness to travel to provinces when planed by the management
  • Willingness to work outside official hours

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in both national language (Dari & Pashto) oral and written
  • Fluency in English is a must both oral and written
