MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA) is a branch of MSI, a global, non-profit, and non-governmental organization headquartered in London, UK, and was established in August 2002 after registration with the Government of Afghanistan. MSIA follows the local mission statement of MSI: Improve Afghan women’s health and well-being so that they can, in turn, build strong, healthy families. Our vision is to be the organization that Afghan women seek out for high-quality, client-centered health care provided by women, for women.


We focus on reducing maternal mortality by providing quality and sustainable maternal-child health (MCH) and reproductive health (RH) services and information in 17 provinces of Afghanistan, namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia, and Daikundi, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan. 

MSIA strives to enhance women's health outcomes in the aforementioned provinces by delivering vital reproductive and maternal-child health services through multiple channels such as centers, outreaches, the private sector, and MS Ladies (Family Health Houses).

Job Descriptions:

  • Ensure all assets are tagged.
  • Managing disposal of expired/damaged/useless items after approvals
  • Investigate the differences between GIN and GRN at dispatching time.
  • Provide assistance with Stock officer, in terms of managing and coordinating the warehouse equipment.
  • Inventory execution: setting inventory levels, fixing norms for safety stock level, lead time analysis, calculation of inventory costs, inventory pricing decisions.
  • Effective classification, codification, standardization and simplification of materials
  • Well planned storage and stock control, proper authorization of receipts, issues.
  • maintain stock records using manual or computerized systems.
  • To oversee that the arrangement of goods has been done in an orderly system within the stock location system so that the stock can be stored easily and retrieved whenever there is a requirement. Similarly, he/she ensures that the stocks stay physically protected in the warehouse.
  • To undertake the function of stock taking and confirm the periodic stock on a regular basis by working closely with the designated staff members.
  • He/she makes sure to get rid of the surplus or obsolete stock.
  • To be involved in reconciliation of physical stock with the stock in the system
  • Receive, store and issue goods.
  • Update inventory list, maintain inventory controls, distribution and recording inwards, monitor distribution of the inventory.
  • Receiving any goods transferred to HO, keeping them safe after records completion.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register, update the changes quarter/bi-annual basis.
  • Fixed asset/inventory verification of all MSIA sites once in year and updating the FAR and inventory books.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Economic, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field

Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices

Familiarity with warehouse operations, stock control, and asset management

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in data entry, record-keeping, and maintaining inventory databases/systems.
  • Ability to conduct stock reconciliations, and physical inventory counts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to investigate discrepancies and optimize inventory levels.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with the stock officers.
  • Basic understanding of inventory classification, coding, and storage optimization
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures for handling damaged/expired items
  • Adaptability to use both manual and computerized inventory management systems.
  • Must be proactive and show initiative.
