It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. It is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. IRA started its humanitarian activities for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan and Afghan people inside since then; IRA continued assisting in emergency relief, food security, women empowerment, girl education, orphan sponsorship, health, emergency education, shelter, Ramadan, and Qurbani programs.

Job Descriptions:

In close collaboration with Sr. Program officer and under the direct supervision of Humanitarian Program Coordinator, the incumbent of the position will be responsible for assisting the implementation of Humanitarian Assistance for IDPs, Returnees and Host Communities in Afghanistan.

Summary of the Position:

The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the project implementation “assisting the implementation of Humanitarian Assistance for IDPs, Returnees and Host Communities in Afghanistan)” within the targeted province. They will mainly carry out the following duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for collecting, compiling, and consolidating all information related to different components of the project regularly.
  • Support the media and communication senior officer to prepare the case studies, quality photos, and videos.
  • They are responsible for updating the project in the on-truck system in close coordination and guidance of the senior program officer and humanitarian program coordinator.
  • Assist the procurement department with the market surveys, raising the Purchase Requests.
  • Assist the PQLR department in the stock check, sample check, and spot monitoring
  • She/he is responsible for input and output monitoring in the project. She/he has to document the processes adopted in the project implementation, emerging best practices, success stories, human interest stories during the implementation of the project.
  • She/he should provide timely feedback on the project progress and shortcomings to the Humanitarian Program Coordinator.
  • She/he should support Humanitarian Program Coordinator in developing Work Plan and Financial Plan on a quarterly basis.
  • She/he should submit quality MIS reports, monthly progress reports and process reports regularly to the Humanitarian Program Coordinator.
  • The project Officer is responsible for supporting the IRA’s PQLR department in beneficiary verification, spot monitoring and progress monitoring.
  • Develop strategies in identification and coverage of all vulnerable and poorest households
  • Coordinate with Humanitarian Program Coordinator in analyzing monitoring data and take necessary actions for the improvement of the project
  • Establish linkages with line departments, NGOs, and relevant institutions at the village and district level.
  • All project-related beneficiaries lists will be documented and shared with the Humanitarian Program Coordinator and submitted for the archiving
  • Perform any other duties that the line supervisor may assign.


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor degree in Social Science, Public Relation, BBA, and Humanitarian Management.


  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience, particularly with an international organization in the field of Humanitarian program management.
  • Experience in surveys and distribution and the beneficiary selection
  • Strong Command on Pashto/Dari and English both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-ethnic team and take on diverse tasks.
  • Working experience in the targeted provinces and familiar with concerned community, geography and culture.
