Job Descriptions:

Main Purpose of the Job:

The Education and Protection Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of education and protection activities on the ground, maintaining close coordination with IP and project stakeholders to ensure quality implementation.

Responsibilities:

Education and Coordination

  • Assist the ECHO manager in preparing project budgeting, spending, and procurement plans.
  • Draft/respond to comments on a project progress report or modifications raised by the grant team.
  • Actively participate in project review meetings, ECHO monitoring calls, and inter-office discussions of project activities.
  • Supervise the education officer and provide timely support in processing PRs and RRF requests with the relevant IRC department.
  • Ensure implementation of protection mainstreaming in IRC projects in the target fields
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including community leaders, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other IRC sectors, to enhance cooperation and coordination.
  • Oversee project technical interventions and provide technical support, guidance, and assistance to education and field staff on education priorities, issues, and concerns in all the field offices.
  • Ensure technical and operational issues and challenges are addressed promptly and politely by informing related department and line managers.
  • Regular follow-up of the technical and operational pending activities with provincial supervisors/managers and respective stakeholders at the field level
  • Continuous follow-up and supervision of the project technical activities progress at the field level and provision of the necessary support 
  • Ensure timely deliveries of planned activities and the project progress.
  • Organize and actively participate in regional and provincial education meetings, workshops, and trainings, draft minutes, and share them with education management.   
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education programs and initiatives. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish program objectives, timelines, and performance indicators.
  • Engage and build strong relationships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders. Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to enhance the quality and accessibility of education services.
  • Coordinate the allocating and efficiently utilizing resources, including financial budgets, personnel, materials, and equipment, to support education programs. Ensure compliance with funding requirements and reporting standards.
  • Develop and implement systems for data collection, monitoring, and evaluation of education programs. Analyse data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Identify training needs and develop capacity-building initiatives for education personnel, teachers, and community members. Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in education-related areas.
  • Advocate for the importance of education and promote awareness of educational initiatives among stakeholders and the wider community. Develop and deliver communication materials, including presentations, reports, and newsletters.
  • Stay updated on relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices in the education sector. Provide input and recommendations for policy development and reforms to improve the quality and inclusivity of education services.

Protection

  • Conduct outreach activities to provide the refugee population with relevant information on services and address reported cases or protection concerns as per program/organization procedure.
  • Follow up the case identification and referrals with relevant child protection actors to ensure the protection rights of target students in the TLSs and communities.
  • Forge partnerships with relevant stakeholders, such as child protection agencies, law enforcement, social services, and community-based organizations. Collaborate on joint initiatives to address child protection challenges and share best practices.
  • Develop and implement systems to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of child protection programs in educational settings. Collect and analyze data for quality reporting to assess interventions' impact and identify improvement areas of child protection.
  • Organize and actively participate in regional and provincial protection meetings, workshops, and trainings, draft minutes, and share them with the central office.
  • Perform any other job related duties if required.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree will be considered advantages.
  • Experience with community-based education and formal education system support.
  • Strong experiences in training planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting
  • Experience with project planning and management (2 to 3 years)
  • Expertise in budget management
  • Strong communication skills with field staff  
  • Strong experience in maintaining coordination with stakeholders.  
  • Having good experience in education services monitoring and supervision
