PARSA’s title Advocacy Officer is a full-time position that follows this job description and completes his work in respect of the PARSA rules and regulations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. Essential job duties include the following:
• Providing advocacy for participants of the Safe Space program by meeting with relevant community stakeholders about issues related to family conflict and support for families experiencing conflict and violence in the family.
• Ability to meet with local authorities to speak about and advocate for support for families.
• Working with Safe Spaces staff to support them in finding support and advocates for their beneficiaries
• Trouble shooting problems facing individuals and their families with extended family, community elders, or government officials.
• Promoting Safe Spaces program with relevant stakeholders
• Learning and delivering Safe Spaces training curriculum • Conducting focus groups
• Preparing and facilitating meetings
• Providing written reports and basic administration of advocacy
• Bachelor in relevant subject (BBA or Law (specific Sharia law) preferred
• Minimum three years of experience in mediation and peace building in communities with elders, and community leaders preferred
• Experience working with families experiencing conflict preferred
• Background in Islamic studies an advantage
• Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word processing programs
• Good oral and written communication skills, Dari and English mandatory
• Ability to communicate meeting details and other information to colleagues and management
• Good communication skills and able to write government letters
