Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose

Under the overall technical guidance of the MEAL Manager and supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent for this position is responsible for establishing and overseeing a functional MEAL system for the project. The MEAL Officer will be responsible for designing and implementing the MEAL activities of the Project; assisting the Project Manager in preparing Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress and will monitor the project activities on a regular basis.

Job Description

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Project Manager in strengthening and implementing WCUK MEAL approaches, procedures, and practices.
  • Assist MEAL manager/project manager in developing systematic and realistic monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to report on project performance indicators.
  • In collaboration with MEAL manager and project manager, develop monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning tools for the project.
  • Monitor all project activities and progress towards achieving the project output.
  • Carry out regular field monitoring of projects interventions to the provinces and produce monitoring reports and follow up on the agreed action plans.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports on project progress
  • Assist WCUK in planning and implementation of baseline/endline surveys, monitoring and evaluation exercises and other studies when needed.

 

  • Assist MEAL manager and project manager in organizing and conducting projects review meetings, planning workshops/training and preparing relevant reports.
  • Assist MEAL Manager in Organizing and conducting MEAL trainings and workshops to the staff and partner organizations. 
  • Prepare and maintain WUCK databases.
  • Manage and maintain WCUK complaints and feedback mechanism.
  • contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant with WCUK’s Safeguarding and PSEAH policies.
  • ​Any other related task as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • University Degree
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in MEAL & Reporting, preferably experience with INGOs, UN, or donors in Afghanistan.
  • Experience in Leading and or facilitating relevant trainings.
  • Experience in designing tools and approaches for data collection, able to analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and production of reports.
  • Proficient and experience in report writing, documentation and working with databases.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management and PCM
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (written and oral).
  • Must be able to travel to the project sites and other provinces.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Packages
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and with competing priorities.
  • Strategic perspective and keen to take ownership of monitoring and evaluation functions, challenges, and solutions.
