Job Descriptions:

To provide quality specialized psychological services for individuals and groups through counseling, including structured and unstructured psychosocial support programs based on INTERSOS MHPSS SOP and curriculum. The PSS Counselor receives referrals from the case management team for the cases that need specialized psychosocial support.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality of specialized services provided for most vulnerable cases.
  • Ensure correct individual psychological support for cases internally referred by INTERSOS case management teams and collaborate with the case management team to provide holistic service to the beneficiary.
  • Ensure correct individual psychological support for cases referred by other agencies based on coordination, interagency support, and mutual agreements.
  • Provide a clinical psychological assessment for all cases, identifying the appropriate therapy or service to be provided.
  • Draft a case plan based on the identified mental health issue and closely monitor and document the psychological recovery of cases.
  • Ensure all cases have clear mental well-being outcomes outlined in the case plan, with progress tracked regularly.
  • Ensure the family and other support systems are involved in supporting the mental wellbeing of the beneficiary.
  • Consult with the PSS team leader / MHPSS Specialist for critical and complex cases to chart the most appropriate case plan.
  • Ensure that referral to the psychiatrist is done based on the mental health condition and as a last resort.
  • Provide regular updates to the case worker on the beneficiary's progress.
  • Inform the PSS team leader/MHPSS specialist about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation or problems observed in team dynamics.
  • Attend the awareness sessions arranged by COVs to provide awareness of psychosocial stressors. Spread awareness in the community about mental well-being and psychosocial support.   
  • Ensure structured group PSS sessions are conducted as per protocol and the psychological well-being of participants is tracked.
  • Ensure individual PSS and vice versa complement group PSS as per need.
  • Design activities with psychological purposes for vulnerable children, youth, women at risk, and men attending collective PSS. Hold PSS sessions regularly in the CFS for children.
  • Be available to train on psychological support and first aid INTERSOS staff when requested.
  • Produce and maintain accurate clinical records of the beneficiaries.
  • Write technical reports on specific cases identified during the individual psychological support sessions.
  • Case files and technical reports must be archived in a locked and secure location; access to them should be restricted only to relevant, authorized protection program staff.
  • Provide the supervisor with bi-weekly and monthly reports on the activities conducted.

             Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in social or psychology science from National or International Universities
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in providing clinical or psychological services
  • Cultural awareness
  • Context understanding
  • Communication Skills in local language
  • Organizational Behavior Skills
  • Pashto and Dari skills are required.
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
  • Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
  • Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from supervisors in the field.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
