The organization for Promotion of Health & Community Development (OPHCD) is a non-governmental, non-political and independent organization. OPHCD has been established in 2017 and registered with the NGOs Department of the Ministry of Economy of the with license # 4160 as well as registered with the Ministry of Public Health of the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with the registration #762. In addition, the organization has a membership of Afghanistan National Health cluster, Afghanistan National Nutrition Cluster and ACBAR. OPHCD, as a non-governmental organization striving for the well-being of the people through the promotion of health, education, WASH, protection and human right, economic stability and sustainable development of the communities with focus on the women and children, drugs users, IDPs and other marginalized group of the society with an equitable manner.

Job Descriptions:

Main duties and responsibilities:

The Education Officer will be responsible to look after the Education projects of the OPHCD, especially the Orphan Care Project. He/She will strictly adhere to the donor and OPHCD policies.

The specific duties of the incumbent will as follow:

  • Implementation of educational programs of the organization.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of educational projects and programs.
  • Controlling of educational programs of the organization.
  • Coordinating meetings with the related authorities.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator and other project staff in planning and implementing CBE classes.
  • Guiding the CBE teachers if they need help.
  • Coaching on the gaps that were found during the evaluation of education programs.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders, including educators, parents, and community members.
  • Support the development of educational materials and resources.
  • Helping Teachers to complete the students’ result sheets, attendance sheets, daily plans, the progressive book
  • Preparing and arranging the annual plans for teachers.
  • Traveling in provinces and districts where the organization implements educational programs.
  • Attending meetings.
  • Follow up on the project implementation in the field.
  • Develop success stories for the monthly report.
  • Maintain project documentation and records.
  • Data collection survey and small research from the project site.
  • Interact with Education Cluster and other Stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and regularly update the Infoactivity Platform.
  • Ensure the reports have been shared with all stakeholders on timely manner.
  • Monitor the progress of each orphan and report their learning status.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Education, social science, psychology, pedagogy and science.
  • Certification in from recognized institutions in the field will be an advantage.
  1. Experience
  • At least five years of progressive experience in the field of education preferably with National NGOs or International Institutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and leadership skills;
  • Having community-level work experience and skills is an advantage.
  • Fluent Pashto, and Dari with excellent speaking and writing skills;
  • Proficient computing skills including word processing, spreadsheet design and PPT presentation.

Other skills required:

  • Efficiency, result-oriented and community level working capabilities;
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues in a responsible and mature manner;
  • Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity;
  • Ability to use information technology effectively.
