Job Descriptions:

Overview:

As a Gynecologist for our Women's Health Center located within the female prison facility, you will provide specialized medical care and support to incarcerated women in need of gynecological services. Your expertise in women's health and compassionate approach will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive and patient-centered care within the unique setting of a correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gynecologist Consultations:
  • Conduct comprehensive gynecological assessments and examinations for incarcerated women, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, breast exams, and assessment of menstrual health.
  • Diagnose and treat gynecological conditions, reproductive health issues, and menstrual disorders, prescribing medications, therapies, or surgical interventions as needed.
  1. Prenatal and Obstetric Care:
  • Provide prenatal care and obstetric services to pregnant inmates, including prenatal examinations, ultrasounds, prenatal testing, and prenatal education and counseling.
  • Coordinate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and support throughout pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
  1. Family Planning and Contraception:
  • Offer comprehensive family planning counseling and contraceptive services to incarcerated women, including contraceptive counseling, method selection, and provision of contraceptive supplies.
  1. STI Screening and Treatment:
  • Conduct screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and manage the diagnosis and treatment of STIs among incarcerated women, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide education and counseling on STI prevention, risk reduction, and safer sexual practices to promote women's sexual health and well-being.
  1. Health Promotion and Education:
  • Deliver health education workshops, group sessions, and one-on-one counseling sessions on topics related to women's health, reproductive health, and sexual health.
  • Empower incarcerated women to make informed decisions about their health, bodies, and reproductive choices, promoting self-care and self-advocacy.

Job Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree from an accredited medical school required; specialization in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) required.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience practicing gynecology, preferably with experience in correctional healthcare or women's health.
  • Strong clinical skills and expertise in gynecological examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and cultural competence, with the ability to provide patient-centered care to diverse populations.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will be based within the women's health center located within the prison facility.

Work hours may vary, including regular hours and on-call responsibilities to respond to emergent healthcare needs of incarcerated women
