About MEDAIR:

Medair is an international humanitarian organization established in 1988. Medair has been operating in Afghanistan since 1996 with programs mainly in the Health, Water & Sanitation, and Livelihoods sectors with significant reconstruction activities in remote areas. Current projects are Water & Sanitation, Food Security, & Disaster Risk Reduction.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Tirinkot district.  The project intends to improve and extend WASH services including water supply infrastructure and hygiene practices to improve outcomes for vulnerable families.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Uruzgan, which has been significantly affected by drought and conflict conditions. Building upon Medair’s decades of experience in the Central Highlands and Kandahar, the project intends to improve and extend utilisation of lifesaving preventive and curative nutrition and health services by mothers, PLWs and children U5; to increase access to clean water, to reduce vulnerability to water-related and other preventable diseases, and to improve and increase food security for the most vulnerable families through food voucher distributions.

Job Descriptions:

Resposibility 

  1. Giving high quality and participatory trainings on community level.
  2. Capacity builds promoters and volunteers on training skills and topics.
  3. Preparing trainings, making sure IEC materials is ready on time and processed correctly.
  4. Providing constructive feedback towards promoters and volunteers.
  5. Participating in household counts, surveys and other monitoring and evaluation activities.
  6. Provide accurate records, documents and reports as required.
  7. Ability to work in both locations of the Spin Boldak district even in other districs and provinces.

 

Technical

  • Giving Qualitative and participatory training on promoter and volunteer level
  • Being an example in the community.
  • Building up the training capacity of Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers (CHNVs) and providing constructive feedback.
  • Making sure that supporting Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material is prepared and distributed on time and processed correctly.
  • Preparing tally Sheets and Training sheets for Promoters Training.

Community Acceptance:

  • Coordinate and liaise with local communities to find volunteers and promoters as well as accurate training places for promoter trainings and care groups.
  • Coordinate and liaise with local communities when there are challenging circumstances or problems, and know when to ask for help from supervisor, officer, managers or other relevant parties.

 

Data / Program Quality

  • Responsible for adequate data collection through promoters.
  • Train promoters on data collection.
  • Responsible for printing and preparing tally sheets on time.
  • Making sure that tally sheets are accurate.
  • When giving training to promoters or visiting care groups, using checklists and provide constructive feedback to promoters and volunteers.

Job Requirements:

​​​​​Education

  • High-school graduate
  • Diploma/Certificate of nursing or midwifery, Public Health or equivalent medical training

 

Relevant experience

  • At least 1-year relevant post graduate experience
  • Nutrition training / experience
  • IYCF training

 

Languages

  • Fluent in Pashto -oral and written skills
  • Some English -oral and written skills
  • Good English

Computer

  • Working knowledge in MS word and excel

 

Other skills

  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to organize people in an orderly way and prioritize tasks
  • Good listening and counselling skills, patient and kind attitude
  • Highly motivated to provide high quality services to beneficiaries of poor communities in a challenging setting
